Leaving a Legacy: The van Muydens

Pauly van Muyden in front of hospitalFor nearly 40 years, Pauly van Muyden and her late husband, Dr. Wim van Muyden have been dedicated supporters of the Woodland Healthcare Foundation. Dr. van Muyden was a well-respected OB/GYN physician who understood the importance of both patient care and philanthropy.

For more than 30 years, Dr. van Muyden provided outstanding service to our community, delivering more than 3,000 babies at Woodland Memorial Hospital.  He was also proud to serve as Chief of Staff and as a member of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees. His passion for health care, community, and family was admired by many.

The van Muydens also helped create the current Woodland Healthcare campus as one of the original investors in the Woodland Clinic Medical Group building, now known as the Railsback Building. With the sale of Railsback when Woodland Healthcare joined Mercy, the van Muydens and several other physicians established charitable remainder trusts, which provide tax benefits, lifetime income, and the opportunity to benefit Woodland Healthcare with a significant charitable gift.

Following Dr. van Muyden’s passing in 2009, Pauly has continued to build their legacy through supporting the Foundation. In honor of Dr. van Muyden, Pauly recently made a major gift to the Family Birth Center in support of renovations to meet the needs of our growing community.

The Woodland Healthcare Foundation is proud to be a part of the van Muyden’s exceptional legacy.
