2009 Annual Dinner & Auction

A Night to Remember-Annual Dinner Tops Expectations

On March 20, more than 420 people attended the Woodland Healthcare Foundation’s 40th Annual Dinner honoring Dominic Erba, MD. The evening’s theme was “Central Park at Midnight” and the Woodland Community Center was transformed into a park-like setting surrounded by city scapes.

The night began with tray passed appetizers and a silent auction. The program for the evening started with Foundation President, Aaron Schmoekel and Foundation Executive Director, Colleen Brock taking the stage to welcome our guests, acknowledge local dignitaries in attendance and to thank our valued sponsors and event Chairperson, Kay Curtis.

As guests enjoyed an elegant dinner served and created by Prestige Events Inc. Doug Lurie, MD and Teresa Childers, Director, Quality/Risk Management, began a special presentation honoring Dr. Erba. The Foundation honored Dr. Erba for the quality and compassionate care he has provided to his patients and our community, for over 30 years in addition to his generous support of the Foundation. He has held a number of positions within the medical facility include those of associate medical director, chairman of the Department of Surgery, vice chief of staff, chief of staff, and quality management chairman. Most recently he accepted the position of medical director of Quality Resource Management as well as his daily work of being a general and vascular surgeon. In attendance, were special members of Dr. Erba’s family, including his 92-year-old mother who flew in from Connecticut.

After the recognition, featured performer, artist David Garibaldi, took the stage. David captivated the crowd as he painted three, six-foot portraits to music. Foundation Trustees, Mark Engstrom and Tim Bernard, DPM then auctioned off the portraits of Albert Einstein, Audrey Hepburn and Frank Sinatra, raising $10,250.

The evening concluded with the winning raffle ticket being drawn for the New York trip. The lucky winner was Isabel Morin-Boyle, Woodland Healthcare Respiratory Therapist.

The Foundation wishes to thank the dedicated group of volunteers that made this event come to life, along with everyone who sponsored, attended, donated and purchased a raffle ticket. All proceeds from the Annual Dinner Fundraiser will provide support directly to Woodland Healthcare.
