Back in 1973, a third generation Southern Californian couple relocated to Woodland. Joe Peyton brought his wife, Sharlene and three of his five children to begin their life in Yolo County. Joe was enticed to move his family up north by a job offer as the General Manager of Fleetwood Homes.

New to the area, Joe was introduced to Woodland Clinic rather quickly by his business associates of Fleetwood. “I would frequently drive to Woodland Fliers and Sacramento Airports to pick up associates from Northern Nevada who were attending medical appointments at Woodland Clinic. The reputation and services of the Clinic were then and still are exemplary,” stated Joe.

To this day, the Peytons remain extremely pleased with their care. “Throughout the years, we have been very impressed with the medical staff and especially fond of my physicians, Dr. Pirruccello and Dr. Robinson,” said Joe.

While attending the 2011 Foundation Annual Dinner, the Peytons thought about how grateful they were for their care, and decided they wanted to give back to Woodland Healthcare. Joe spoke with friend and Board Member, Roger Kohlmeier about their interest in giving. After speaking with Executive Director, Colleen Brock, Roger presented the Peytons with several different funding opportunities. Once the options were discussed, they decided to fund hearing and vision screening machines for the Woodland Pediatrics Department.

As a firm believer in family, married more than 56 years, with 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, the Peytons thought this would be a beneficial gift for generations. “When we reviewed the list of items, we realized there are many needs to keep Woodland Healthcare a top performing organization,” said Sharlene.

Sharlene continued, “Woodland Healthcare is a lifesaving facility. We feel fortunate to have such wonderful care so close to home.”

The Peytons have contributed to Woodland Healthcare Foundation for more than 18 years. They have attended numerous events and purchased auction items to support different fundraising initiatives. In addition, the Peytons have generously designated many unrestricted gifts to support Woodland Healthcare’s “Greatest Need” Fund.

Woodland Healthcare Foundation is grateful to be supported by Joe and Sharlene Peyton. Their generosity will provide vision and hearing screening tests for 7,500 children annually.
