David McCurry Vice President, Philanthropy

David McCurry is the vice president of philanthropy for Woodland Healthcare Foundation. In his role, David is responsible for the Foundation’s identification, cultivation, solicitation, follow-up and stewardship of prospective and current donors to maximize philanthropic support for Woodland Healthcare Foundation. His responsibilities include development and management of a Major Gift Prospect Research and Cultivation system while also participating in the planning and solicitation of top level charitable giving.

David has more than seventeen years of development and fundraising experience to this role, including several years in leadership positions. Most recently David served as the Chief Development Officer for the Willow Creek Association, in Chicago. Prior to this, David was the Associate Vice President of University Advancement at Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU) in San Diego, overseeing a team of eleven staff and completing a $15 million capital campaign. During his tenure leading the advancement office at PLNU, David and his team won five Awards of Excellence from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) for fundraising successes and marketing pieces. In addition, David spent nearly 10 years at Westmont College in Santa Barbara, leading the major gifts team during the largest capital campaign in the school’s history. David also spent six years as an adjunct professor at Bay Path University teaching a graduate level class on major gift fundraising and capital campaigns.

David holds a master’s degree in Nonprofit Management & Philanthropy from Bay Path University. In addition he holds an MBA in Marketing from City University of Seattle and certification as a Certified Fund Raising Professional (CFRE).

David and his wife, Susan, have been married for 28 years, have three children, and reside in the Spring Lake area of Woodland.
